Associate Membership
What is a New View Associate?
Associates are individuals and families who wish to support and participate in
the community more actively than guests. Associates may use New View common areas, attend
meals, and participate in social activities without a host sponsor. They may also sign up
for the internal New View email list to remain abreast of community events and news and to
participate in electronic discussions.
Associates do not engage in New View governance, decision-making and/or committee work
(though they may participate in committee-sponsored activities such as work days).
The "Rights and Responsibilities" agreement of New View, and alternative
dispute resolution guidelines, apply to Associate Membership.
How do I become a New View Associate?
Potential Associates should identify a New View household willing to be a 'buddy'
household. The buddy household will check in with the Associate household from time to time
to see how things are going and to answer any questions.
To apply for Associate membership, the applicant must attend at least two New View meals
and two New View meetings and notify the community of their interest in becoming an
Associate.
The community will be notified by e-mail and mailbox when the household is eligible for
Associate status (i.e., have attended two meetings and two meals), and who the proposed buddy
household is. Their application will be discussed for consensus at a subsequent
community meeting. The buddy household will attend this meeting to help answer any
questions.
Once an Associate, always an Associate?
An Associate may notify New View at any time that they would like to end their membership;
any prorated fees will be refunded. Households can be removed from Associate status by the
consensus of all condo and community members, or by a fallback to voting as described in
the New View bylaws.
