Where We Are
New View is in Acton, Massachusetts, a town of about 22,000 people, located a little over 20 miles northwest of Boston. Acton is accessible to Rt. 2 and Rt. 495, and it takes about 30 minutes to drive to Alewife Station in Cambridge, or 50 minutes to drive to Boston, without traffic (considerably longer at rush hour). The South Acton train station, which is on the Fitchburg line of the MBTA Commuter Rail, is about 2 miles from New View. West Acton, a village center with shops, services, and a seasonal farmer's market, is a half-mile walk.
New View is also walking distance to three small conservation lands (Guggins Brook, Jenks and Wright Hill), two elementary schools (Douglas and Gates) and Idylwilde Farms, a family-owned farm and market. Acton is home to The Discovery Museums and the Acton Arboretum.
New View residents are active in Acton and the larger community in many ways, from voting in elections and participating in Town Meeting, to serving on town boards and committees, including the Board of Selectmen. Some devote energy to local and regional organizations, such as The League of Women Voters, Green Acton, and political groups. Others are active in community theater, musical groups or sports.
